Piano Storage During Property Restoration

Give the piano a clear plan while the property is repaired. Piano Inside coordinates removal, monthly storage and return placement with restoration contractors and property owners.

Keep the instrument accounted for through the repair.

A restoration project can change the room, the timetable and the person coordinating access. A piano needs a documented destination and a return plan through those changes. Piano Inside provides a point of contact for the agreed moving and storage stages while the restoration contractor remains responsible for the property works.

BEFORE REMOVAL

Agree the handover

Identify the owner or authorised representative, the site coordinator and the party approving the quote. Record the piano type, visible condition and accompanying parts. Share access photographs privately so removal can be assessed before a date is accepted.

DURING REPAIRS

Keep storage arrangements current

Request monthly storage with an estimated duration and an update contact. If repairs are expected to take two or three months, use that as a planning estimate rather than a fixed return promise. Confirm capacity, the proposed storage conditions, payment terms and how additional months or early return are handled.

WHEN THE ROOM IS READY

Plan the return to use

Confirm the finished room, delivery route and final piano position. The return scope should identify transport, any reassembly required from the move-out and placement. Discuss a separate tuning or condition assessment after delivery when appropriate; moving and storage do not establish that the instrument is ready for performance.

Restoration Company Connections

Company names and logos are featured with permission for this restoration-project service page.

Listings refer to the named companies or local operation shown. They do not represent a nationwide or exclusive endorsement, an insurer approval, or a completed-job testimonial.

A useful record for the contractor and piano owner

The handover should identify the instrument, the visible condition, the accompanying bench or removable parts and the agreed destination. Photographs can record existing finish marks and other visible concerns before collection. Keep the same reference through storage and return so a revised repair timetable does not detach the piano from its original scope.

Provide only the information needed for access and the quote through the private contact route. There is no need to publish a homeowner's address, claim documents or site photographs. Agree who may approve extra handling, a storage extension or a change of delivery address.

Quote the stages separately

Ask for three clear items: the initial removal and transport, monthly storage, and the later return delivery with agreed reassembly and placement. If the piano is a baby grand, provide its model or dimensions and access photos so the handling team can assess appropriate disassembly. Do not assume that every grand needs the same equipment or that a room-to-room move has the same scope as off-site storage.

Storage costs and availability are confirmed for the specific arrangement. Insurance approval, coverage and direct billing are not implied; agree the payer and approval process before work starts.

Separate property restoration from piano condition

A room can require repairs even when the piano has not been directly affected. Conversely, a piano exposed to water, smoke or suspected contamination may need a separate assessment before it is safe to handle or store. Tell the coordinator about known exposure and follow the restoration contractor's site-clearance process.

Piano Inside's scope here is agreed moving, storage coordination and return planning. It does not include property remediation or cleaning and restoring contaminated instruments. A transport quote is not a finding that a damaged piano is repairable.

Return readiness after flooring or room repairs

Before scheduling return, confirm that work along the handling route is complete and that the contractor has released the area for access. Ask about the floor installer's requirements and any protection restrictions. Recheck stairs, thresholds and doorways if they changed during repairs.

Choose a final position before the piano arrives. Share any need for lessons, events or regular use so post-delivery tuning can be discussed separately. The condition of the piano and its new room environment guide that decision, not the number of months in storage alone.

Serving Toronto and the west GTA

Requests are welcome from restoration contractors coordinating properties in Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington, with other GTA routes reviewed by arrangement. Give both the initial location and the intended return location if they differ. Dates are confirmed after access, instrument condition and availability are reviewed.

Questions Before Booking

Can the contractor coordinate the piano on the owner's behalf?

Yes, a contractor can start the enquiry. Before booking, identify the authorised decision-maker, the site access contact and the party approving and paying for the agreed moving and storage scope.

What if repairs take longer than the expected storage period?

Contact the coordinator before the planned end date. Additional storage, billing and revised delivery availability must be agreed; a provisional repair completion date is not a confirmed delivery booking.

Is piano tuning included after return delivery?

Tuning is a separate service unless expressly included in the quote. Discuss the piano's condition, room stability and intended use when planning a post-return appointment.

Do you remediate a piano affected by water, smoke or mould?

No remediation of contaminated pianos is offered through this moving and storage page. Disclose known exposure so suitability for handling and storage can be reviewed and a separate specialist assessment arranged if needed.

Plan the piano removal, storage and return

Tell Piano Inside which stage you need, who is coordinating access and the expected repair duration. Use the existing quote form to share piano and route photos privately.
